The UPESSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 selection process includes a written examination followed by an interview. The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of the prescribed marks.

• Written Exam: 120 objective questions.
• Total Written Marks: 360 marks.
• Exam Duration: 2 Hours.
• General Knowledge: 30 questions.
• Concerned Subject: 90 questions.
• Correct Answer: 3 marks.
• Wrong / Multiple Answer: 1 mark will be deducted.
• All questions will be multiple-choice questions with four options.

The written examination consists of two major areas. Candidates will be asked questions from General Knowledge and their concerned subject.

• General Knowledge: 30 questions will be asked from the General Knowledge section.
• Concerned Subject: 90 questions will be based on the subject selected by the candidate.
• The detailed subject-wise syllabus is available through the official UPESSC website.
• Candidates should prepare according to the concerned subject and the latest syllabus prescribed by the Commission.

The written examination will be conducted on 19 and 20 November 2026. The examination will be based on 120 multiple-choice questions and will be conducted for a total of 360 marks.

• The question paper will contain questions in Hindi and English, while language-subject questions will be asked in the concerned language.
• Candidates will have 2 hours to complete the written examination.
• The examination will be conducted using an OMR Answer Sheet.
• Only a black ball point pen should be used for marking the OMR answer sheet.
• Erasing or damaging the OMR answer sheet can result in cancellation of the answer sheet.

• Stage 1: Written Examination.
• Stage 2: Shortlisting of candidates for Interview on the basis of written examination marks.
• Stage 3: Interview.
• Stage 4: Final Merit List.
• The written examination carries 360 marks and the interview carries 40 marks.
• College allotment / preference related work will be handled by the authorized authority as prescribed in the notification.

Candidates shortlisted on the basis of the written examination will be called for the interview. The Commission will provide the interview date, time and venue through SMS, e-mail, newspaper and its official website.

The interview carries 40 marks. Shortlisted candidates must appear for the interview and bring the required self-attested educational, age, category and other documents.

Candidates should keep multiple copies of their application form and educational certificates ready for the interview and document verification process.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to present the documents mentioned by UPESSC at the time of interview. Important documents may include:

• High School marksheet and certificate.
• Intermediate marksheet and certificate.
• Graduation marksheets and degree.
• Postgraduate marksheets and degree.
• NET / SLET / SET certificate, wherever applicable.

• Category / EWS / PwD / Freedom Fighter dependent certificate, wherever applicable.
• No Objection Certificate for candidates already working in service, wherever applicable.
• Other documents required by the official notification.

• One Time Registration (OTR) is compulsory before submitting the online application.
• The application must be submitted through the official UPESSC online application system.
• Candidates should enter all personal and educational details carefully before final submission.
• After final submission, changes in important details such as category, sub-category, date of birth and gender are not allowed.
• Candidates should keep three copies of the submitted application form for future use.
• Photograph, signature and required certificates should be uploaded in the prescribed format and size.
