RRB Technician 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Educational Eligibility
- Candidates must possess the educational or technical qualification prescribed for the selected Technician post.
- The required qualification must be possessed by the closing date of online application, i.e. 29 July 2026.
- Candidates waiting for the final result of the prescribed qualification should not apply.
- For Technician Grade-III posts, the prescribed qualification includes Matriculation / SSLC with the relevant ITI or Course Completed Act Apprenticeship as applicable.
Age Eligibility
- Technician Grade-I Signal candidates should be 18 to 33 Years of age.
- Technician Grade-III candidates should be 18 to 30 Years of age.
- Age is reckoned as on 01 July 2026.
- Applicable age relaxation will be provided to eligible categories as per the CEN.
Medical Standard
- Candidates must satisfy the prescribed medical standard for the Technician post selected by them.
- Different Technician posts may have different medical standards.
- Candidates found medically unsuitable for the opted post may not be given an alternative appointment.

RRB Technician Exam Pattern 2026
The RRB Technician examination will be conducted through Computer Based Test (CBT). Separate CBT will be conducted for each pay level. The CBT will contain objective type questions and marks will be normalized when the examination is conducted in multiple shifts.

RRB Technician Syllabus 2026
The syllabus for the RRB Technician CBT is different for Technician Grade-I Signal and Technician Grade-III. Candidates should prepare according to the pay level and post for which they have applied.
- General Awareness: Current affairs, Indian geography, culture and history, Indian polity and constitution, Indian economy, environmental issues and general scientific and technological developments.
- General Intelligence and Reasoning: Analogies, alphabetical and number series, coding and decoding, mathematical operations, relationships, syllogism, jumbling, Venn diagrams, data interpretation, conclusions, analytical reasoning, classification and directions.
- Basics of Computers and Applications: Computer architecture, input and output devices, storage devices, networking, operating systems, MS Office, Internet, email, websites, web browsers and computer viruses.
- Mathematics: Number system, rational and irrational numbers, BODMAS, quadratic equations, arithmetic progression, geometry, trigonometry, heights and distances, surface area and volume, sets, statistics and probability.
- Basic Science and Engineering: Physics fundamentals, units and measurements, work, power and energy, speed and velocity, heat and temperature, electricity, magnetism, electronics and measurements.
RRB Technician 2026 Selection Process
- Stage 1: Computer Based Test (CBT).
- Stage 2: Document Verification (DV).
- Stage 3: Medical Examination.
