Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 18 Years

  • Age will be calculated as on 01 August 2026.
  • Candidates should be born between 02 August 1999 and 01 August 2008, subject to the applicable category rules.
  • Age relaxation for SC / ST, OBC, PwBD, ESM and other eligible categories will be available as per Government of India rules.

LDC / JSA • Candidates must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.

• Candidates appearing in the 12th examination may also apply, but they must possess the required qualification by 07 October 2026.
DEO / DEO Grade ‘A’ • For DEO / DEO Grade ‘A’ in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Staff Selection Commission and Ministry of Culture: 12th Standard pass in Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognized Board or equivalent.

• For other DEO / DEO Grade ‘A’ posts: 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.

• The required qualification must be possessed by 07 October 2026.

SSC CHSL Eligibility 2026

Educational Eligibility

  1. Candidates must have passed the required 12th Standard / equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.
  2. For specified DEO / DEO Grade ‘A’ posts, candidates must have passed 12th Standard in the Science stream with Mathematics.
  3. Candidates appearing in the 12th examination can apply provisionally, but the required qualification must be obtained by 07 October 2026.

Age Eligibility

  1. The normal age limit is 18 to 27 years as on 01 August 2026.
  2. Candidates must satisfy the prescribed date of birth conditions given in the official notification.
  3. Permissible age relaxation will be available to eligible reserved and special categories according to Government rules.

Other Important Eligibility Conditions

  1. Candidates must satisfy the nationality / citizenship conditions prescribed by SSC.
  2. Candidates should be able to produce original educational, category and other required documents during Document Verification.

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern 2026

The SSC CHSL 2026 examination will be conducted in two tiers. Tier-I and Tier-II will be conducted through Computer Based Examination. Candidates must qualify the required stages as prescribed by SSC.

  • Mode: Computer Based Examination.
  • Duration: 60 Minutes for eligible candidates under the normal time provision.

  • Tier-II is conducted in two sessions on the same day.
  • Session-I includes Mathematical Abilities, Reasoning & General Intelligence, English Language & Comprehension, General Awareness and Computer Knowledge Test.
  • Session-II includes the applicable Skill Test / Typing Test.
  • There is 1 mark negative marking for each wrong answer in Sections I, II and III of Tier-II.
  • Computer Knowledge Test and Skill / Typing Test are qualifying in nature as prescribed by SSC.

SSC CHSL Syllabus 2026

Candidates should prepare according to the official SSC CHSL syllabus. The major areas covered in the examination are given below.

  • English Language: Spot the Error, Fill in the Blanks, Synonyms, Antonyms, Spellings, Idioms & Phrases, One Word Substitution, Sentence Improvement, Active / Passive Voice, Direct / Indirect Narration, Cloze Passage and Comprehension.
  • General Intelligence: Verbal and non-verbal reasoning, analogy, classification, series, coding-decoding, Venn diagrams, problem solving, critical thinking and related topics.
  • Quantitative Aptitude: Number System, Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Average, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, Partnership, Mixture and Alligation, Time and Distance, Time and Work, Algebra and other prescribed arithmetic topics.
  • General Awareness: Current events, general knowledge and questions related to everyday observation and general awareness.
  • Tier-II: Mathematical Abilities, Reasoning and General Intelligence, English Language & Comprehension, General Awareness, Computer Knowledge and the applicable Skill / Typing Test.

SSC CHSL Typing Test / Skill Test 2026

The Skill Test / Typing Test is conducted in Tier-II for the posts where it is prescribed. The test is qualifying in nature.

  • LDC / JSA Typing Test: English typing speed of 35 words per minute or Hindi typing speed of 30 words per minute.
  • Candidates have to select the typing medium between Hindi and English in the online application form. The selected medium cannot normally be changed later.
  • DEO Skill Test: The required speed depends on the DEO post. Certain specified DEO posts require 15,000 key depressions per hour, while other DEO posts require 8,000 key depressions per hour.
  • Candidates should check the exact skill requirement applicable to their allotted post.

SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

  • Stage 1: SSC CHSL Tier-I Computer Based Examination.
  • Stage 2: SSC CHSL Tier-II Computer Based Examination.
  • Stage 3: Skill Test / Typing Test for posts where it is applicable.
  • Stage 4: Document Verification by the concerned User Department / Ministry / Organization.
  • Final post allotment is made on the basis of merit and the preferences submitted by candidates, subject to the applicable post requirements.

SSC CHSL Exam City / Centre 2026

The Tier-I and Tier-II examination schedules for SSC CHSL 2026 will be notified later by the Commission. Candidates will receive examination information through the official SSC website and Admission Certificate.

While filling the application form, candidates have to select three examination centres in order of preference within the same SSC Region.

Candidates should regularly check the official website for the Exam City, Examination Centre, Reporting Time and Admit Card details.

The SSC CHSL Admit Card 2026 will be issued through the SSC regional websites / official examination system as per the Commission’s schedule.

1. Visit the official Staff Selection Commission website ssc.gov.in .

2. Complete the required One-Time Registration (OTR) on the new SSC website if you have not already generated an OTR there.

3. Open the CHSL Examination 2026 application and read the complete notification carefully.

4. Enter your personal, educational, category and other required details carefully.

5. Capture the photograph through the application module and upload the signature in the prescribed format.

6. Select the required examination centres and other preferences carefully.

7. Pay the applicable application fee through the available online payment method.
